If you’ve found your way here, chances are you’re wondering how this whole audiobook magic works. Below are the most common questions I’m asked—answered plainly, with just a touch of storytelling.

What is an audiobook PFH?

PFH stands for “Per Finished Hour.”

In simple terms, it means you are paying for the final length of the completed audiobook—not the raw recording time.

For example:

A 10-hour finished audiobook = 10 PFH

Each finished hour typically represents a significant amount of written text (often around 9,000–10,000 words, depending on pacing and narration style).

Think of it as paying for the finished journey, not the number of steps taken along the way.

How long does it take to produce an audiobook?

Every story moves at its own pace.

On average:

A full audiobook may take 8-12 weeks or more, depending on length, complexity, and sound design

More immersive projects (like soundscapes or layered audio) may take longer.

I’ll always communicate timelines clearly before we begin—and keep you updated along the way.

What genres do you work with?

I specialize in stories filled with imagination, emotion, and worldbuilding.

What is included in your audiobook services?

Depending on your chosen package, services may include:

Professional narration
Audio editing and cleanup
Mastering for distribution platforms
Proofing and pickup recording
Optional immersive soundscapes

Each project is tailored to the needs of your story.

What is a “soundscape edition”?

A soundscape edition adds subtle environmental audio to enhance key moments in your story.

Think:

Wind through ancient ruins
Distant thunder during battle scenes
Soft tavern ambiance during dialogue

The narration always remains the focus—the sound exists only to support the world, never to overpower it.

Do I own my audiobook when it’s finished?

Yes.

Upon final payment, you receive full rights to distribute and sell your completed audiobook.

You own your story and the finished recording of it.

I retain rights only to my performance, voice, and portfolio samples (unless otherwise agreed).

Do you allow AI voice cloning?

No.

My voice, narration, and performance may not be reproduced, cloned, trained, or synthesized using AI or machine learning technologies.

Your audiobook is handcrafted—not generated.

Can I request changes or revisions?

Yes—within reason.

Small corrections and narration fixes are always included.

If changes are made to the manuscript after recording begins, additional time or fees may apply depending on scope.

Do you work with first-time authors?

Absolutely.

Every author starts somewhere, and I especially love working with indie and debut storytellers.

What do you need from me to start?

To begin your journey, I typically need:

Your manuscript
Estimated word count
Desired service package
Any pronunciation guides or character notes
Your vision for the audiobook experience

All this can be done with a welcome call, or though email communication and audio clips of names and places. From there, we map the path together.
